  • Robustness is one of the most important and fundamental characteristics of healthy biological systems

  • Understanding the human body as a communications, regulating, immunomodulation and integrated system

  • How mucosal surfaces can lead to systemic regulation or systemic disorder.

Mucosal Surface

Mucosal surfaces are exposed every day, every hour, every minute to a vast array of foreign antigens, from foods, airborne origins, commensal bacteria of the gut, pathogenic microorganisms and parasites. This protective, totally connected, regulating and informing network has widespread impact on the total health of the body.

It is postulated that 80-90% of people are affected by dysregulation of the mucosal surface, either through the gut biome or other mucosal surfaces in contact with antigens of various origins.

Mucosal Surfaces Have Direct Impact in the Following Organ Systems:

  • Musculoskeletal
  • Skin
  • Gastro-Intestinal
  • Lungs
  • Upper respiratory
  • Urogenital

Mucosal Surfaces Have Implications in the Following Disease Processes:

  • Allergies
  • Systemic Inflammation
  • Infections
  • Skin reactions

Robustness as a Concept of Systems Medicine

Systems Biology

"Systems Biology" is the emerging and new biological science of treating the human body as a system of networks where the components of the networks (genetics, molecules and organs) are treated with equal importance in telling the biological story.

Concept of Biological Robustness

Biological robustness is the biological property that allows a system to maintain its function of balance and performance in the face of perturbation from internal and external sources.

Systems BioRegulatory Approach to Case Management

BioRegulatory Therapy

Dr O'Byrne will take participants through the relationship of networks of the therapies and relate them to the network of biological systems. Providing an understanding from a multi-dimensional and multi- modality approach to healthcare.

Biological Robustness as an Aim of Therapy

Nutrition, Homotoxicology and lifestyle measures will be addressed by Dr O'Byrne to illustrate the importance of involving all feedback systems to the restoration of robustness to a complex biological system. The notion of a single target or biological pathway of therapy will be challenged.

You Will Learn:

  1. How BioRegulatory Systems Medicine evolved from the old paradigm of Homotoxicology and how advances in systems approaches to biology is validating a multi-targeted approach to health restoration.
  2. The importance of looking at the Systems Biology
  3. The in-depth exploration of the Systems Biology as illustrated through the mucosal surfaces.

Presented by: Arturo O'Byrne, MD (Colombia)

Lead Professor in Integrative Medicine at the University Javeriana in Cali, Colombia.

Dr O'Byrne has spent the last 30 years dedicated to practicing and educating practitioners around the world in Homotoxicology and Homeopathy. For 26 years he has been a Medical Director of the Centre for Biological Medicine and is a past President of the International Society of Homotoxicology and Homeopathy (ISOHH).

Dr O'Byrne is passionate about sharing his knowledge with practitioners and has been teaching from his own clinic for 25 years. He is invited to speak at many congresses and courses both nationally and internationally.

Dr O'Byrne received his Medical degree from the Universidad del Cauca in Colombia in 1976. He later studied Clinical Phytotherapy at Master's level and Clinical Nutrition at Postgraduate level at the University of Barcelona. He has published several scientific articles and co-authored the textbook "Introduction to Bioregulatory Medicine"
